The events organized and conducted by SNHDCTA each year would
never happen without the dedication and hard work of their members
and volunteers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank
all those members and families whom have donated hours of their
life for the success of the club. Volunteers not only enjoy the
satisfaction of contributing to each event but they also receive
"Funny Money". Each volunteer is paid one Funny Money
dollar for every hour donated. Volunteers are recognized at the
Annual Awards banquet where the total hours donated for the year
are rewarded with a lump of Funny Money and with SNHDCTA swag.
Funny Money can be used toward the cost of any SNHDCTA sanctioned
event.
Volunteering is a great way to get active in your local riding
community and meet new friends with similar interests. Volunteers
are always needed so please do not hesitate to get involved. Contact
Karin Denhard,, with any volunteer questions at 603.664.2478
Ring Set-Up
You will typically set-up the event site the day before the activity.
You will help set up the dressage riding arenas, jump courses,
tents and/or trailers, and other general activities. You DO NOT
have to be strong to help - many hands make light work!
Greeter/Hospitality
You are typically the first person participants will see when
arriving to an event. During shows, you will give the exhibitor
their competition packet, which consists of a number, ride-times,
and other goodies. Don't forget that smiles are contagious.
Parking Supervisor
You will be in charge of directing traffic to the designated parking
area and keeping the access for trucks and trailers clear from
one another. You will want to wear good shoes.
Scorer
You will help score tests for each individual rider during a competition
and put the scores in ascending order to pin a class. You should
possess basic math skills and be comfortable using a calculator.
You will also post scores after they have been tallied.
Gate Keeper
You will be in charge of keeping the show or clinic running on
time. You will be giving a list of competitors names with their
numbers and ride-times. You will typically stand in the vicinity
of the warm-up arena in order to let exhibitors know when they
will be going in the ring and whom they follow. You will need
to wear a watch.
Scribe
You will be the judges "right-hand" person during a
show. You will sit with the judge and write down comments the
judge makes for each movement during a dressage test. You should
have good penmanship and be able to write quickly. This is a very
exciting and educational job since you get to hear first hand
what the judge is looking for in a horse and rider.
Ring Take-Down
You are very important in the success of the event. You will help
take down the arena, jumps, and tents at the end of the event,
clean-up around the site, and ensure we are invited back to the
location. Again, you DO NOT need to be strong to help, just a
positive attitude.
